New day...old art...

I have the feeling that I HAVE to share art with every entry. That's why I started this silly blog...to showcase my art and my inner musings...so here is some "old art." I made this for Hannah, my dear sister-in-law, for her birthday last year. I used sea glass that I had collected through the summer as well as other random "mixed media" components. The writing at the bottom is the tale of our friendship, an often unspoken but understood contract about our relationship and what it means to me.

Todays stuff...

The day started with an exhausting battle with Meka. What did I learn? That I have GOT to pick and choose my battles much more wisely! Luckily I discussed the morning's events with Jolee's preschool teacher. She put things into perspective VERY quickly!

And it got me to thinking that MORE mothers out there...in Topsham even...must need this type of feedback. So, I've decided that it's imperative that I organize and execute a series of parenting workshops for mothers in my area.

And that leads me to my "high" today. I went cross country skiing with my dear friend, Chris Cole. Chris is an artist, a therapist, a singer...and a wise, wise woman. I love her dearly and feel so blessed to have her in my life. We have come up with our first series in my new parenting workshop.

Anger.

We all have it. We all disperse it in UNHEALTHY ways and it affects all of us in no-so-pleasant ways.

I'll let you know where all of this goes!

And now it's off to school to pick up Meka, take her to horseback riding and then a fun night out with Hannah. We're going to the Simplicity Parenting talk at the school.

Anger, and the management of it, is a great place to begin a series of parenting classes. Start with the fact that "counting to 10", although a good way to diffuse spontaneous blow-ups, doesn't always do the trick. Go from there. Get lots of feedback and advise from moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, caregivers.... and take "expert" advice with a grain of salt.
I hope you can actually put these classes in motion. They will be of great value to anyone who makes the time to participate.
    Bravo!
