Wishing for Photos...

I have been pretty good about updating the Caring Bridge website, my Facebook site and this blog, but I have been remiss at taking photos of my art and posting them. I have been working a bit in my studio and have a bunch of 1/2 or maybe 1/4 finished projects.

My dear friend, Gina, just had twins and I'm desperately trying to make something amazing for her new little girls. I'm at a loss. I've discovered that I almost NEVER like anything that I purposely MAKE for someone. I think the only thing that I've really liked was the collage I did for Ben and Beth's wedding.

I'm heading down to Boston tomorrow to see Caitlin but also going to drive down to see Gina. I can't see the babies...which bums me out to no end...but I understand. I can't imagine what she's experiencing...being home and not able to drive (c-section) while her new babies are at the hospital. Yuck.

So, my word of the week is ENVY. I received a great email from a good friend and it had 35 pieces of Advice for a Wonderful New Year. One that resonated within me was:

33. Envy is a waste of time.. You already have all you need.

Generally I don't envy people's "stuff" I envy their relationships. I never thought of myself as needy, but I guess that I am. I want to be everyone's favorite and I get very envious when I painfully discover that I'm not. How crazy is that??? So...I'm going to work on that. Whenever the feeling is creeping in to overtake my happy mood, I'm going to try to dismiss it and focus on something positive about my relationship with that person or focus on my relationship with another person. We'll see how it goes. I do not want to waste anymore energy getting ugly about something so trivial. I think it stems from my incredible lack of self-esteem...what can I do to make sure people like me...and like me the most??? Sounds self-involved, doesn't it? Sounds yucky. I'm gonna try to nip that one in the bud!

What the heck does that mean, anyway, nip in the bud?

Okay, all for now. I would go on and on about current issues with my mother...but we all have those, right?

  1. Hi Leslie! Thought I'd stop by. I don't usually envy people's stuff either, but I do have trouble envying experiences such as vacations or weekly trips to the movie. What should I do for that?
